This scarf features a section from Rachel’s Herbarium Specimen painting which she painted for her PhD using dried pressed specimens from the Herbarium collection at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The painting as a whole displays one or more specimens representing each flowering plant family, in DNA classification order. -
This high quality tea towel is made from 100% cotton and is hemmed on four sides with a hanging loop in one corner. The full dimensions are 48 x 68 cm and the towel features an image of Bean Painting: Specimens from the Leguminosae Family. The original watercolour was painted at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew in 2004 using specimens from the Herbarium. It was chosen by Tate Britain to represent contemporary botanical illustration in its 2011 ‘Watercolour’ exhibition.
